Public Guardian for Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee Counties

The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, Inc., has contracted with the Statewide Office of Public Guardianship (SPGO) in Tallahassee to be the legal guardian for up to 45 incapacitated individuals residing in Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties who are without family or friends willing or able to assist and who have insufficient assets to afford the services of a professional guardian.

The Legal Aid Society has a public guardianship program to take responsibility of this population. We have been established in Palm Beach County serving wards since 1994 and are looking forward to expanding our services to these additional counties. In Palm Beach County we generally receive referrals from various sources, including the Department of Children and Families, the Court, nursing homes, or other facilities and agencies who have someone in need of guardianship. If you have any questions or would like further information about this program, please feel free to contact: Rena J. Taylor, Esquire at (561) 655-8944, Ext. 245.
